Matti Talikka, M.Sc., FAusIMM(CP)
Matti is a geologist (M.Sc.) with experience in the fields of geological research, mineral exploration, project development, mining and minerals processing. He has held senior technical and management positions in exploration, mining and minerals processing technology companies. Between 2007 and 2015 he was employed by Dragon Mining Limited where he held several positions including General Manager Exploration focusing on exploration and project development in Finland and Sweden. Between 2015-2020 he worked at Outotec in various global positions most recently as Director Geometallurgy and Project Evaluation. Matti is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and Chartered Professional under the discipline of Geology.
Mike Basha, P.Eng., P.Geo.
Mr. Basha has been working in the mineral exploration industry for 29 years with major and junior exploration companies both domestically and internationally. His experience includes project generation, fieldwork, and senior management in gold, base-metal and magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group elements exploration. Mr. Basha was instrumental in the discovery of the Hammerdown Gold deposit in Newfoundland and was formerly Vice President Exploration of Cornerstone Capital Resources Corp., heading up the generative initiative that led to development of a large portfolio of successful ventures for Cornerstone in Canada and Ecuador. Mr. Basha holds degrees in geology and engineering and in addition to his exploration experience has worked as a consulting geotechnical and environmental engineer in the past. Mr Basha is a principal and major shareholder of Aurion.
Non-Executive Chairman, Director
Mr. Lotan is the President of LHI an investment company focused on natural resource opportunities. In his previous career David was the founder and CEO of the structured finance operations of Polar Capital – a Canadian merchant bank and alternative asset manager, acted as a portfolio manager for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and was a risk management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers focused on commodities and rates. Mr. Lotan is a Chartered Accountant and CPA.
David Loveys, CPA, C.A.
Mr. Loveys’ experience has been primarily with Canadian publicly traded companies operating in the domestic and international markets. He has held senior financial positions with CHC Helicopter Corporation, the NewTel Group of Companies and Cornerstone Capital Resources Inc.
David has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981. He successfully completed the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, Canadian Securities Course in 1987.
Dennis N. Clarke, B.A., LL.B., LL.M.
Mr. Clarke is a Partner with Goodland Buckingham, Barristers and Solicitors. He has practiced law for the past twenty years, specializing in Corporate and Business, Energy and Natural Resources and Mergers and Acquisitions sectors. He recently represented Nalcor Energy in the negotiation and finalization of a major hydro deal between the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia. He served as assistant corporate secretary and general external counsel to FPI Ltd, a former TSE listed company, and has represented a number of junior mining companies and junior oil and gas companies, providing advice and general counsel on joint operating agreements, royalty agreements, farm-in and farm-out agreements, and general regulatory compliance.
Mark Serdan, CPA, CA, CFA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Serdan has over 20 years’ experience working in the capital markets industry where he specialized in evaluating resource companies. Prior to joining Aurion, Mr. Serdan was a Portfolio Manager for approximately 15 years at BMO Asset Management (8 years) and UBS Global Asset Management (8 years), where he was responsible for making investments in the resource sector and for managing the firm’s resource funds. He won the Lipper Award numerous times through the years, awarded annually to the top performing fund manager among his peers in the category. Mr. Serdan also previously worked 5 years at BMO Nesbitt Burns as an Investment Banker and a Research Associate. Mr. Serdan has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.
Kerry E. Sparkes, M. Sc., P. Geo
Mr. Sparkes has over 30 years experience in the mineral exploration business as both an exploration geologist and executive. His career has included the exploration, delineation and development of 2 major Canadian deposits, both of which were the subject of takeovers. He is currently the Vice President-Geology for Franco-Nevada Corp. and was previously Vice President-Exploration at Rainy River Resources Ltd., Vice President-Exploration at Messina Minerals, Inc., Senior Geologist at Voisey’s Bay Nickel Co. Ltd., Exploration Manager of Archean Resources Ltd., as well as President of Sparkes Consulting, Inc.
Mr. Sparkes has previously held a number of board seats, including the Board of Directors of Sphinx Resources Ltd., Knight Metals Ltd., and was a founder and director of Orla Mining Ltd.
He received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Memorial University of Newfoundland., and started his career as an exploration geologist for Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd.
Diana Mark has over 30 years’ experience in corporate and regulatory compliance, specializing in acting as Corporate Secretary of public companies in a variety of industries. She brings extensive experience with brokered and non-brokered financings, developing good corporate governance practices and assisting in maintaining strong boards. Over the years she has also developed extensive relationships with industry personnel and regulatory professionals.
Mark Santarossa, CPA, CA, MBA
Vice President of Corporate Development
Mr. Santarossa brings over 15 years of resource capital markets and investment banking experience. Most recently Mr. Santarossa was a Director at Origin Merchant Partners, Canada’s largest independent Mergers and Acquisitions advisory firm based in Toronto. He has worked at both bank-owned and independent Canadian investment dealers and has devoted much of his career to the resource sector. Mr. Santarossa has an extensive list of institutional buy-side and corporate relationships. Mark holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
Ms. Hodge holds degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland and for more than 25 years has worked in management and accounting for both public and privately held companies. She has held the positions of accountant, Corporate Secretary, Treasurer and CFO and brings a vast knowledge of financial reporting, corporate governance and public company regulatory compliance.
Mathias Forss, M.Sc.
Exploration Manager Scandinavia
Mr. Forss has a M.Sc. degree in Geology and Mineralogy degree from Åbo Akademi University in Finland. He is co-founder and Managing Director of Scandinavian GeoPool, a geological consulting firm based in Finland with a subsidiary in Sweden.
His main expertise is in project and land management for early to advanced stage exploration projects. He has worked on projects in several different geological settings including gold, base metals, iron ore and fluorspar within the Nordic countries of Finland, Sweden and Norway. Fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English, Mr. Forss is an effective liaison with regulatory authorities, local landowners and other stakeholders. He is also proficient in Spectral Geochemical Analysis and has worked abroad in this capacity.
Mary Stalker P. Geo.
Ms. Stalker has worked in mineral exploration and development for over 30 years in Canada and internationally with a focus in Ontario and the Timmins area. She has supervised exploration projects from target generation to the feasibility stage and has experience in gold, base metal, and industrial mineral projects and mines. Mary holds an Applied Masters of Science in mineral exploration from McGill University and is a consulting project manager for Aurion.
Field Exploration Manager
Eddie Quinlan has 20 years experience in prospecting and has worked fulltime in the mineral exploration industry for 17 years with various junior exploration companies across Canada, Finland and the U.S.A. He was founding President and CEO of Quinlan Prospecting Inc., incorporated in 2006, which managed various sized exploration crews across Canada and U.S.A. He has also held the positions of President and CEO of other privately held exploration companies, one of which is now trading on the TSX:V.
Eugene Flood, P.Geo.
Eugene Flood is a professional geologist with more than 32 years exploration experience in multiple commodities including gold, diamonds and copper in Canada and globally. He discovered the ULU gold deposit in Nunavut, Canada and was a key member of the exploration team that discovered and advanced the Doris and Boston gold deposits in Hope Bay, Nunavut. Mr Flood specializes in geospatial mineral prospectivity analysis and has experience from reconnaissance to resource development with junior and major mining companies. He is currently acting as a consulting technical advisor to this project for Aurion.
Miles is an exploration geologist, with over 30 years’ experience working on natural resource projects in around the globe, including precious and base metals, industrial minerals, oil & gas and renewable energy. He is a founder of South American explorer Lara Exploration (LRA.V) and Europe-Africa explorer Reservoir Minerals (RMC.V). Miles was part of the discovery team that was winner of the Thayer Lindsley Award at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada for Reservoir Minerals’ Cukaru Peki Copper Gold Discovery in Serbia, that led to the sale of the company to Nevsun in June 2016 for over US$500 million. Before entering the junior world in 2006, Miles was Manager of Business Development at Gold Fields Exploration, where his responsibilities included working on joint ventures and acquisitions in the Americas, Africa and Eurasia.
