Matti Talikka, M.Sc., FAusIMM(CP)
CEO, Director
Matti is a geologist (M.Sc.) with experience in the fields of geological research, mineral exploration, project development, mining and minerals processing. He has held senior technical and management positions in exploration, mining and minerals processing technology companies. Between 2007 and 2015 he was employed by Dragon Mining Limited where he held several positions including General Manager Exploration focusing on exploration and project development in Finland and Sweden. Between 2015-2020 he worked at Outotec in various global positions most recently as Director Geometallurgy and Project Evaluation. Matti is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and Chartered Professional under the discipline of Geology.
Mark Serdan, CPA, CA, CFA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Serdan has over 20 years’ experience working in the capital markets industry where he specialized in evaluating resource companies. Prior to joining Aurion, Mr. Serdan was a Portfolio Manager for approximately 15 years at BMO Asset Management (8 years) and UBS Global Asset Management (8 years), where he was responsible for making investments in the resource sector and for managing the firm’s resource funds. He won the Lipper Award numerous times through the years, awarded annually to the top performing fund manager among his peers in the category. Mr. Serdan also previously worked 5 years at BMO Nesbitt Burns as an Investment Banker and a Research Associate. Mr. Serdan has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.
Mike Basha, P.Eng., P.Geo.
Technical Advisor
Mr. Basha has been working in the mineral exploration industry for 29 years with major and junior exploration companies both domestically and internationally. His experience includes project generation, fieldwork, and senior management in gold, base-metal and magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group elements exploration. Mr. Basha was instrumental in the discovery of the Hammerdown Gold deposit in Newfoundland and was formerly Vice President Exploration of Cornerstone Capital Resources Corp., heading up the generative initiative that led to development of a large portfolio of successful ventures for Cornerstone in Canada and Ecuador. Mr. Basha holds degrees in geology and engineering and in addition to his exploration experience has worked as a consulting geotechnical and environmental engineer in the past. Mr Basha is a principal and major shareholder of Aurion.
